The Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary ensures first-class care to sick, injured and orphaned koalas.
The Koala Sanctuary offers visitors a unique opportunity to see koalas in their natural habitat that will support their long-term rehabilitation and preservation in the Port Stephens region.
Get up close to koalas in their natural habitat via the Newcastle Airport SKYwalk and viewing platform, an elevated treetop canopy boardwalk and observation platform. Offering unique perspectives into the koala’s habitat, it makes for a perfect photo opportunity!

Good to Know
- Free onsite parking
- The visit entails a round trip walk of about 1 km in length. All pathways and elevated viewing platforms are easily accessible and designed for all ages and abilities. Some limited bench seating is provided along the Sanctuary Story Walk
- Newcastle Airport SKYwalk closes at 16:00
